The other night I took my medicine before bed just like always, but for some reason the Ambien kicked in, but didn't cause me to fall directly asleep. I was whining about wanting something to eat. Eddie said I was acting just like I was "snockered." He said I was begging him just like a little kid for him to get up and make me some graham crackers and cream cheese, yeccchh! I've never eaten that in my life and don't think that would be very tasty mixed together. He said he kissed me and tried to distract me with romance, but I was not to be distracted. He then said that if he got up and started making them, I would be asleep by the time he came back to bed and told me to just, "Go to sleep." I then started begging him to at least bring me some Cheerios. He got up and brought a box to me, but they were stale. I told him there was a new box on top of the fridge, not opened, and he very sweetly got up again and brought me the new box. He said I was eating them, but some were rolling out of my hand onto the bed and he laughingly suggested that I should stop. Trying to get him to hush, I shoved a few of them in his mouth, while he was talking and he had a hard time trying to keep from laughing at me. I finally had eaten enough and I pushed the box at him and proceeded to roll over and start snoring (very femininely, no doubt). He told me about it when we woke up, but I only vaguely remember some of it. I know my stomach felt full the next morning. Since I have had GBS surgery, I don't think this is a good thing. I told him he had permission to turn me down flat if I did this sort of thing again and he should try and keep me from eating when I am in an altered state of mind. Not to mention, what about all those stray Cheerios in the bed.

The ambien probably made you a tad "loopy" without knocking you all the way out. When I took ambien that happened to me to and I ended up having to switch my meds around every few months so that they would continue to work.
How sweet he is :)
yep, that ambien can make you a little "drunk". Too funny though.
That's funny (and a little bit scary)-I've had to take ambien before, too and know exactly what you mean. It's scary not remembering crazy things that you did, I thought I was done with that after college, LOL! :)
I can only imagine what Ambien would do to me! I've only ever taken Tylenol PM and let me tell ya, I had to hang on to walls just to walk to the bathroom. I guess I'm a little sensitive!
Congratulations on your WLS! You look amazing!
Great story!! I've never taken Ambien, but I remember after surgery when i was about 14 or 15, I was tkaing pain killers and antibiotics and when the times to take my pills lined up I was in for some good hallucinations. I still remember them.
Next time he needs to pull out the video camera so you can relive the episode for all of time!
Happy SITS day!
How funny! Nyquil does that to me if I take it when I intend to remain awake. My husband enjoyed watching me speak nonsense one night and just kept saying "You need to go to bed" :-)
Congrats on your Sits spotlight, I hope it's a great day for you!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I could neve take Ambien myself or I'd be afraid I'd be comatose, lol.
OMG! That's crazy! Congrats on SITSA spotlight today!!
That's really quite funny!!
Happy Sits day!
Too funny...I needed that on such cold and dreary Monday!
Too funny! My husband did something similar after an exhausting week of working in the heat. Happy SITS day!
Happy SITS day!
Yikes! That's kind of creepy! I hate waking up and not remembering what happened. Don't do it very often (like once in ten years) but it still creeps me out!
That's too funny. Least you were just sprinkling the sheets with Cheerios and and driving!
Congrats on being the FB!
I have heard way too many stories of weird things happening when people take Ambien, so I haven't dared to try it yet.
However, if my husband's snoring keeps up, a good night's sleep might be worth a little midnight snack binging every once in awhile.
Congrats on your weight loss to date. Ambien doesn't work well for me. I wish I could find a sleeping pill that did...
I have never tried Ambien, but after this tale...I don't think I will. Bless your heart! :)
Kelly
Wow, it must have been surreal to wake up and hear that story. The graham crackers and cream cheese sounds strangely good to me. :)
LMAO! Now I've heard it all...sleep eating! Too funny.
Wow! What a story. I've never taken Ambien but I have friends who have called me late in the evening when I was in bed and I have no recollection of the conversation. And Cheerios in the bed is not as bad as cream cheese coated graham crackers would have been. LOL
WOW...I've had only a couple of days like that...I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Happy SITS day!
Congratulations on being FB today! I have heard lots of scary Ambien stories also. I use trazedone.
I've heard of others eating in their sleep while on sleep meds . . . hmmm
Try Lunesta. Knocks me right out.
Hi! I'm over from SITS, Congratulations on your day!!! And congratulations on your WLS, you look great!!
This is in fact an odd story but I' mnot going to lie...graham crackers and cream cheese does sound good to me.
Wow, that is kind of scary that a medicine can do that to a person.
I use Benadryl to help me fall asleep on bad days.
Oh my goodness, hehe...your man sounds sweet! Hopefully you don't get loopy again like that and the cheerios got cleaned up, hehe.
Whoa, that's funny, and a little freaky. It sounds like that hubby of yours is a keeper, though :)
Happy SITS day!
Too funny! I've heard some similar stories from DH when I've had to take meds. He always finds it quite amusing. : )
I love your "drunk" Ambien story! I was on Ambien for a short time - I know I talked in my sleep some, but nothing this animated (unless my husband has it on video and is waiting for the opportune moment...) Thanks for sharing (and how NICE your hubby got you some Cheerios!!!) Happy SITS day!
That's a little scary. Now all those stories about Ambien make sense.
My mom's best friend did something similar on sleep meds except she didn't realize it until the next morning when she walked into the kitchen and saw all the dirty dishes!
I have heard off things about Ambien and sleep-eating, but that post totally cracked me up. ha!
Happy SITS day. :)
Haha, that is hilarious... I'll have to remember that the next time I want an Ambien, I'm sure I wouldn't function to well on that!!!!
:)

It's funny what medications can make you do.....eek! Hehe....Happy SITS day!
Cheerios in the bed...uncomfortable! Thanks for sharing!! Happy SITS day from me, too!
Amy
gotta love stale cheerios
Thats true love when he will bring you cherrios in bed.
Debbie
Debbie, that is too funny. What a mental picture I got as your story played out!
LOL..
wow..hope those cheerios got cleaned up..
LOL that's too funny. How nice that he just went with it though.
Happy SITS day!
OH WOW...you look amazing
hahahaha...deep breath....hahahah...that reminds me, one time when i was on ambien...i took it and went to bed about 1/2 hour later, cause it kicked in really fast that night (this was like 9:00 pm) My mom called at 9:30 wanting to talk to me. hubby told her i was already in bed, but she wanted to talk to me anyway. all i remember is hubby handing me the phone, that's it. i don't remeber anything else. lol i don't know what i said or what she said. hubby said he found the phone sitting next to me on the bed with the operator saying "if you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again" lol ....
I get SO loopy with any type of drug that has that drowsiness warning. I feel you on that one! And you look amazing, btw!
Happy SITS day!!!
My aunt is the same way... she takes ambien and if she doesn't go directly to bed after taking it, she is hilarious!! We sometimes try to make her stay up just for a good laugh if we are there late at night.
Congrats on being the FB. Happy SITS day!
mmmmmmm, Ambien. Happy SITS day!!!
I think that's called an ambitrip. I've had similar experiences. I've fallen asleep on the couch and had to be moved and find out the next day it's really funny to be awakened while on ambien.
I have only taken it when I'm not sleeping at all and it's critical that I get some zzz's, so I have several pills left. I think it would be fun to take one and let someone videotape me, because I never have any recollection of what I've done and said the next day and it's always hilarious. Unfortunately, I'm against taking meds when I don't need them, but it's tempting to make an exception on this one.
Fun post! What a wonderful husband you have.
what a sweet guy to keep getting your food! :)
Haha... how silly.
Loved the story - and your husband sounds wonderfully patient! ;)
HAPPY SITS DAY!
I've never taken Ambien...but after your story I am a little scared to. I don't know that my husband would be so patient.
Too funny! Happy SITS day :D
Very crazy! I'm staying the heck away from Ambien for sure!
How funny! I had a friend that would call me after she took her Ambien and then not remember anything we talked about. Silly woman.
ooh, that happened to me once when I was on Ambien, except that I got up and DROVE to my Boyfriends. I just remember waking up and being like "how did I get here?"
glad you have a hubby to keep you safe when you get loopy!
Haha! I'd imagine the crackers and cream cheese would have been messier!
sounds like a funny night.
congrats on the saucy blog!
LOL! That is hilarious! Great story!!
I must say, that'd inevitably make for a hilarious scene in a movie =] Stoppin' through via the SITSAhood!
That's too funny! I get a little loopy when I take my sleep medicine. What a sweet hubby to bring you the Cheerios! Have a great SITS day!
Never taken Ambien but what a sweetheart of a husband you have!
That's hilarious! I'm pretty sure I've done similar things WITHOUT the assistance of a sleep-aiding drug! :) I'm definitely a sleep-talker. I hope I don't end up telling on myself!
Isn't that just like a guy to try and distract with romance? Geesh! I'm glad you didn't try the graham crackers and cream cheese. :)
Happy SITS day!
Thats hilarious! Happy SITS day :-D
Yeah I'm really glad I don't need to take that stuff...I'm loopy enough as it is!
Cream cheese and graham crackers!! EEEEEEEYYYYYYYUUUUCCCCKKKK!!
Congrats on being featured SITSta today!
Hilarious! I have taken Ambien for years and never had such a craving. Cream cheese and graham crackers, yuck!;-)
Hello from all the way down here, and all the way from over in England.
I don't know what the hell the stuff is you're talking about but it sounds great!
Congrats on being featured. I never took Ambien but atleast now i'll know that it could make me loopy. lol
man - you'd be fun at a blogger sleepover!!!
AH!!! You officially have the COOLEST word verification EVER!!! funkipoo!!!!
Eeeks! Funny and scary at the same time...
stopped by from SITS. that's way too funny! he should've got it on video!
That's hilarious! But, how do you know he didn't make it all up just to tease you? :)
Ambien, doesn't even make me blink. Now give me a low dose (25mg) of seroquel, and I'm dead for 24 hours. Yet, I used to have a client whom was 70 lbs take alot more than me and stay up all night on it.
I have this picture of you in my mind drooling out pieces of cherrio's!! lol
BTW, your profile pic looks like Florence Henderson (is that her name, the Brady bunch mama). I'm jealous!
What a funny moment for you to! I am like that to - I get loopy when I am tired, even without medication.lol
Who knew? Sheesh, I guess I won't be reaching for an ambien anytime soon, LOL!
Congrats on being a featured Saucy blog this week!
I had a friend with a similar experience, except she decided to "walk the dogs naked". Ah Ambien.
that's kinda freaky! It's like sleep-walking. Wow!
Too funny. You can forget a lot of things while taking that stuff, but you're probably a good time!
Congrats on the featured blogger!
That's awesome! Wish I could shove some cheerios in my hubby's mouth!
ha ha that's awesome!! People on sleep drugs are so much funnier than drunk people!!
Oh how fun for your husband! I love having dirt on my husband like that. I've never taken sleeping aids, but ummm now I'm glad I haven't ;)
that was hilarious!!! we have had some middle of the night convos that will go down in history too....one was a bit out of my arm while hubs was dreaming of eating a hot dog!
That was so funny! But at least this story shows that you have a sweet hubby who looks out for you whether you are awake, asleep or somewhere in between!
I hear Ambien makes people do all sorts of weird sleeping stuff...sleep walking, sleep driving, sleep online shopping. At least all you did was munch on some cereal. ;-)
Ha! What a great post!
Happy SITS Day!
:^) Anna
That is a great story and at least your husband was nice. I am a sleep talker/walker and my husband likes to have some fun with it...all for stories to tell I'm sure.
Too funny! Hope you had a happy SITS day!
That's funny...your husband is quite a guy to go through all of that for you. I took Ambien for awhile and BOY, did I apparently snore. My husband STILL reminds me about it. Happy SITS Day to you....that's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations
That is a step-by-step account of putting my son to sleep last night (minus the Ambien, of course). You weren't acting sloshed--just toddlerish!
awww, to cute. at least the hubby was sweet and took care of you in your drunken state. how nice of him. good luck with getting all those cherrios out of the bed!
I was taking Ambien and because of the high cost, my doctor switched me to the generic brand, called Zolpidem. I didn't hear her say to 'cut them in half' and I took a whole one on Wednesday night. One minute it was 10 pm and I was watching a good movie--the next thing I know it was 3 am and I was like "What the crap just happened??" I asked her the next day and she said, "I TOLD you to cut them in half!" It is a great substitute for Ambien and only cost $5 on my drug card...opposed to almost $50 for Ambien!
actually I've heard other stories of people eating in their sleep while on ambien. weird stuff
Yeah, my husband was on Ambien once. We had incidents. Hilarious.
