Today is Friday, February 22, 2008

Shannon is getting married Sunday.

I took off work today to make sure I have everything I need to go up there early tomorrow morning.

I have done everything I know to do to make the wedding look nice for her.

The next couple of days are going to be busy.

Sunday after the wedding, I am going to come home and crash. I plan to take Monday off as well just to rest.

Hopefully the photographer will take some great photos that I can share with you.

The greenhouse is being used for growing tomatoes and the daffodils are blooming

My Valentine's Park Bench that Eddie made me

Eddie's Valentine's Day

Eddie had a wonderful Valentine's. He was amazed with Velta's card the most. He is used to me getting him some candy and a stuffed animal, but this is the first time he has gotten one of Velta's creations. He said the card was awesome and that she should be making "big bucks," selling them.

My hands and feet are freezing

The weatherman said that the temps would rise to 43 today, but I know it did not make it above 40 at my house and with the wind chill it's even colder.

My dress for the wedding came in today and they sent the wrong size. It was falling off of me. I had to call and special order (rush) another one of the right size. I even found another dress online and ordered it as a backup.

We are watching Paula Deen, she is making soups. I need to make one if she shows one that is quick and savory (with no potatoes).

It's cold and wet

The wind is blowing in some cold air! Brrrrr! It's still raining a little down here. The puppies didn't even want to go out this morning to do their business. I have on my pajamas under my sweatsuit and a jacket. Eddie says I shouldn't be this cold, but since my surgery I stay cold.

Today is a soup kind-a-day. I wish we had some of that pepper pot soup in the freezer, I would thaw some out for lunch.

On days like this, I feel like just staying in bed and pulling the covers over my head. I could sleep all day or snooze in between reading, yeah, that sounds wonderful. If I was rich, I would spend my days just lounging around and being pampered.

Sounds good, don't it?

We had homemade Mexican for dinner

I made tacos for dinner. Mexican is my favorite food. I could only eat one thinly made soft taco. On the other hand, Eddie had six hard shell taco supremes. He said they were delish. It's a good thing I cook so good since Eddie likes to eat.

I didn't try to make anything tonight for Shannon's wedding decor. I am so relieved that she got a photographer. I think everything is going to turn out really well. Wish us luck with this thing called love.

HeHeHe I took my Ambien by the way, can't you tell!

Goodnight!

I said I would post some pic's of the Mardi Gras party

A real quick blog

It's Monday morning, February 11th. I need to eat breakfast and then get to work, but I just wanted to update. It is going to be close to 70 degrees today and I am going to have to stay inside and work! SIGH! Eddie and I stayed up til 10:00 last night to watch the Jodie Foster movie, The Brave One. It was good! We made a recipe off of Paula Dean's Food Network show, "Bobby's Goulash." It was an italian recipe. It was very good too! Plus the company was divine. I love to share time with my loving husband.

Yesterday afternoon I remade three boutineers and made four more. I started making the corsages. I have one made and six to go. I found Shannon a really inexpensive veil and I am going to sew seed beads around the edge to frill it up. I found a silver heart pen set for the bride book table. I finished the other puffy topiary tree with red bows and glued red bows on some little heart baskets and filled them with Hersheys Hugs and Kisses for the tables. I also bought some red tulle for the candelabras and/or tables wherever it looks the best.

I hope this is winding everything down.

I still have to wait to see if my dress fits Tuesday. Please pray that it does. I don't need that headache this close to the wedding.

Eddie is in there fixing breakfast, but it is sausage and biscuits, which I am not able to eat. So I will have to go find me something to eat.

See ya later.

Puppy dogs

My sweet little Potter. If I had not named him Potter, I would have had to call him parrot because he likes to sit on my shoulder just like a Pirate's parrot.
And here is my little marshmallow, Coconut. She is so cute and cuddly.

Eddie has already started planting thanks to his greenhouse

Eddie has planted a lot of tomato plants. He already has about 90 coming up (6 different types of tomatoes). Below is a Parks Whopper tomato plant.
Styrofoam cups make great planters.
This is the mum that Joan gave me when I was in the hospital. It has been in the greenhouse and has now started blooming again. Isn't it pretty?
Don't look at the background. Eddie's shop is a mess, but this is a coffee table that he made for a friend of his. He used an old door (70 to 100 years old) that his friend had for the table top and the legs are made out 200 year old "heart" pine. He did not stain it, just put a clear finish on it after he finished putting it together. He is so talented in so many ways. He is my good old "country" boy.

I am tired!

I don't think I am doing anything tonight. I am just too tired. Eddie and I are going to veg in front of the couch and watch a little television.

I found a recipe on-line for baked pork chops and there is no sugar or anything that I can't have in the recipe. I think Eddie and I are going to try it.

Usually there is nothing on television that I really want to watch and I will read a book while Eddie watches a rerun of a show or movie we have already seen, but I am so tired I don't even feel like reading.

It was hot today and going to be even hotter tomorrow with a possible storm predicted for tomorrow night. We will have to see if the storm actually happens, sometimes our weathermen blow things out of proportion.

I think we will be going to bed early.

Good night in advance.

I have work to do!

Today, I have to finish up the bridesmaids bouquets and their earrings and I have to gather up all the decorations, plates, cups, etc. to take to Shannon's on Thursday.

I have an earring of my friend's I have to repair.

I ordered my dress for the wedding this morning.

I made breakfast for Eddie and I, eggs and dry toast for me and link sausage, eggs and toast with butter and syrup for Eddie.

We are headed to Wal-Mart in a few to get a few.

I have clothes to wash.

Then, when we get back I have to hold the ladder for Eddie while he gets on the roof. The other night when the storm came through, the straight line winds damaged some shingles and we got a small water leak in the living room. Water streamed out of the heating/air conditioning vent and then Eddie had to vent. LOL

Since the weather is so nice, I would like to bathe the dogs, but that might not get done today.

I am tired just thinking about it all.

Oh by the way, I weighed this morning and I weighed 230.0 pounds.

Ta-Ta for now!

Saturday, 2-2-08

I worked OT today. Velta and I had leftovers for lunch from yesterday's Mardi Gras Party and I got sick afterwards. I was retching into the garbage pail and she was trying to find me a wet paper towel and blankets. Several of the other ladies came into help and I got embarrassed over all the hoopla and started crying (I felt so stupid). Everybody decided to leave out of my office except for Velta and Linda. We sat there a little while and I got to feeling better.

These episodes when I have them usually last about an hour or so. I feel hot/flushed and my cheeks turn red, then I throw up (not really throw up, just dry retching, nothing comes up), and then I get the chills. It is not a pleasant situation. It usually happens when I eat something that has hidden sugars in it or if I eat potatoes or cheese. Today I tried one small slice of Andouille sausage and I will never do that again. I am learning my limitations. The doctor and nutritionist said this is to be expected and that there are just somethings I should not eat.

I hope to feel much better.

Mardi Gras Party

Today at work we had a N'awlins Mardi Gras "Bayou Bash" Party for our Charity Club. Several employees volunteer to make dishes and then the whole office is invited ($5 cover charge) to eat. I was so busy I didn't get to take any pictures, but another lady in the office said she would burn her pic's to a CD and bring them to me. We had an awesome time. I had a bite of Eddie's Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Gumbo and a great salad with tomatoes and cucumbers. Other dishes included Sausage Piquante; Jambalaya; Sausage Hash; Shrimp Scampi; Red Beans and Rice; Fiesta Cornbread; and French Bread. We had Mardi Gras cupcakes and King Cake for dessert. There was tea (sweet and unsweet), Coke, Diet Coke, and Diet 7up. We had two door prizes (Mardi Gras coffee mugs) and the lady who found the baby in the King Cake got a Mardi Gras goblet with candy and beads. We collected $146.
