Long work day today

I thought this work day would never end. I sat here in my living room diligently writing away. Whew! The minutes just kept dragging and then it started to rain. Dreary days just make it worse, cause I would rather be snoozing when it's raining outside.

For the past several days with the colder weather, Eddie has built me a fire and that makes me so mellow, I could fall asleep in my chair.

So it's a miracle I made it through and finished two.

Wish me luck that I get that many done tomorrow as well.

We are having baked Lemon-pepper chicken breast, peas and green beans for supper. Yummy! I am going to have to curtail how much cause the other night I ate too much spaghetti and hurt myself. It's strange how little I can eat and still it be considered overeating. Ooooooh my stomach hurt, now I know what they mean by abdominal cramping, but I didn't get the foamies. Strange, I thought. So I have to go slow and chew, chew, chew and not eat so much. Hard to make your brain conform to a new way of eating after 50 years of eating pretty much what and however much you want.

What are you having for Thanksgiving Dinner?

Is it a no-no to not have turkey on turkey day? I don't really feel like having turkey. I really don't have any idea what I want. I have gotten to the point where nothing really tastes good to me. I have been having some cravings for shrimp lately. It is a good source of protein. I eat a lot of steak. Baked chicken is close to an everyday thing for me, so I am not really interested in having that either.

Starches seem to make me dump, so there goes the potatoes/sweet potatoes/corn, etc. Cheeses and milk seem to do the same. Then the whole sweets and breads thing. So what is there to eat?

So it is up in the air what my household will eat for Thanksgiving Dinner, but what about you? Are you cooking a feast, what do you usually make?

I SHOULD HAVE...

MORE MY PEOPLE ---------->

Why aren't you following me? I feel slighted.

I got an award...

My good friend, DysFUNctional Mom presented me with a Loyal Friend Award. I don't know if I can say how loyal I am to her blog compared to how loyal she is to mine, but I try. She is a caring, loving person, wife, and mom. She foster mom/adopts puppies which makes her A-1 in my book. She is also a fellow loser of WLS and looks absolutely fantastic. She is from FL and pulls for FL college football, but we will forgive her for that.

Thanks so much for this award. It means a lot.

I went to church and took a nap...

but another lady at church decided to take her nap during the service and it was her son who was doing the preaching. Okay, I am not gonna fault her because I don't know her that well and she may suffer from narcolepsy or have some other type of sleep disorder. For that matter she may have had a bad night unable to sleep, I know first hand what that's like.

Since changing from Ambien to Lunesta I have not had any problems sleeping, but I have noticed my weight loss has totally stopped. I have not lost any weight since starting the Lunesta. I wonder if that is going to be a problem losing the rest of my weight.

It was somewhat cool this afternoon and I snuggled under the covers in bed to read my book and I fell asleep. I took a good little nap. It felt good to snooze. Do you think that is why bears hibernate during the winter?

Guess what????

Dean Koontz has a new release due out on November 25th. I don't know if I can wait 'til Christmas for Eddie to get it for me!

If you didn't already know, I am a book fanatic, but more than that I am a Dean Koontz book fanatic.

My man Eddie the chef...

Eddie made me beef tips and rice with peas and string beans. I am so full, I ate too much, but not toooo much.

He used beef bouillon cubes, stew meat, cream of mushroom soup and onions. He made this in the crock pot and poured it over rice. Beef tips with rice coupled with string beans and peas are most delicious.

Yum, yum and of course I didn't have to cook it either.

WOW!!!!

It's time for Eddie's semi-annual haircut

He only gets his haircut two times a year and he is always surly about it. You'd think he was kin to Sampson or something. I don't like it when he goes and gets his haircut, because he always comes back with a bald head. He asks to have it almost shaved so he doesn't have to go so often, but from one extreme to the other takes some getting used to. Now that the barber has gone up on prices from $7.50 to $10.00 a pop, Eddie's even more reluctant to sit in the chair. I guess I will go with him and hold his hand while he gets his head sheared. I won't be able to post pictures cause he gets so irritable afterwards and I am not gonna push the issue.

I just can't imagine a woman paying only $10.00 for a trip to the hairdresser? I have heard that there are many things that women pay a lot more for than the equivalent for a man. The news said that we pay more for health insurance, car repair and the like. I wonder what else women get stuck for? Can you think of any?

More head shots

All this picture taking has made me sleepy, I think I will go take a Veteran's Day nap.

***Notice my flannel shirt, it is actually Eddie's but these days I stay so cold, I wear his flannelness to keep me warm cause I can't wear him. It would be nice cause he is such a heater.***

I Salute You...

I guess each and everyone of us has someone in their lives who have served and/or are serving in the military. I have many. My brother is one, he served in Vietnam. He was in the Navy. He was on a munitions ship running artillery to other warships as they were being fired upon. I can only imagine what a harrowing experience that was for him. My uncle too was in the Navy. My grandmother had photos of him at Annapolis, the Naval Academy. My family is proud of our vets as we are proud of all the military personnel who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect us and our nation's freedom.

On this Veteran's day, and each and everyday, I ask in humble prayer, that God lead, guide and direct our soldiers who are in this instance, fighting for our freedom and that He will give them speed, accuracy, premonition from danger, a blanket of protection/safety, and all other valuable sensory tools they might need to win the battle against terrorism. May He see their safe return to America whole and free with their heads held high so they may receive the respect they deserve for defending our country against the enemy.

To the U.S. military, I salute you!!!!!!!

Manna (bread) for the quail and chickens

Feeding the chickens bread has caused them to start laying. I am ecstatic to have fresh eggs in the morning.

I'm early...

I woke up early this morning and have already eaten breakfast, I set out all the ingredients for Eddie to start a crockpot full of supper (stew) while I took my shower and dressed for Sunday School and Church, but it is still too early. Sunday School doesn't start for another hour and I am but just a minute away from the church. So I got on here to blog about it. Good Morning All and Happy Sunday!

Tea and Crumpets

Ahhhhh, I am drinking decaffienated Splenda sweetened iced tea. It so quenches my thirst. I am so tired of drinking water, so I will drink this for awhile.

But what the heck is a crumpet? I have heard it is a biscuit. I have heard it is a "tea" cake. I have heard it is a shortbread cookie like thingy. None of those sound like they would go very well with my tea.

I understand that the English drink their tea hot, so that's out of the question for me anyway, but if I'm gonna eat a cookie (which I can't) I want to dunk it in milk (which I can't). And I'm pretty sure a crumpet does not resemble and/or taste like a good ole Oreo.

I guess I will just have to stick with the iced tea and do without the crumpets.

Without looking it up...what do you think a crumpet is? You bloggers from the UK could enlighten us Americaners if you would like.

Voting is a trust
Forefathers fought for our rights
We pledge to uphold

I VOTED

DID YOU?

VOTE

I am sure that we all don't agree on who the best candidate is for any political seat from the President on down to the local levels. What we can agree on is that we should all exercise our right to vote.

As a woman, I am proud of the women who fought for my right to vote (Women's Suffrage). So I am going to go now and exercise my right to vote.

Stand tall, stand proud, Be an American. Exercise your right to vote on this election day, November 4, 2008.

Another pic of Chip or Dale from this morning and a couple of photos of the quail

Photos

I am going through a phase of having to see what I look like on camera, please bear with me, hopefully this won't last long.

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday afternoon and as I was dodging people in the aisles and navigating through the maze of bodies just milling around, I darted from one aisle to another and back again looking for the frozen tater tots that Eddie is so fond of. A young woman and her mother who were in the middle of the first aisle, and who wouldn't move out of the way (their buggy was taking up the entire thruway), were discussing me as I came back around to "their" aisle. I think the daughter's question went something like this (cause I didn't hear her ask her mom), "Am I as big as she is?" But when I did come hurrying back around, I heard the mother exclaim, No, you aren't as big as she is, you're just too self conscious about your weight and how you look. They both became embarrassed as they realized I had popped back around in time to hear their conversation. As I sashayed past them, I mumbled under my breath, to the daughter of course, "OHHHHH yes you are, honey!" Then I got braver as I traipsed on by and as I meandered past the frozen peas and corn, I said even louder, "You just wish you looked as good as me," not knowing this whole time an older, short chubby woman was listening to the whole conversation. She looked straight at me and said, You tell 'em, sweetheart! You look good!" I started laughing at that point and almost banged my buggy right into a guy headed up the aisle the other way. Needless to say, after that debacle, I decided I was done for the day. I checked out and hurried home to the only man on this planet who loves me for who I am no matter what that may look like.*

*Exclusion Statement: There are other males (brothers, nephews, cousins, uncles, etc.) in my family who do love me no matter what I look like, but I'm sure all of you know what I meant.

Chip - N - Dale

My two cute little chipmunks, that Eddie laughingly refers to as the sh*t monkeys, have been working so hard this morning storing up food for the winter. I always think of them as playing, but not so, they are working very hard to make sure they have enough pecans to get them through.

There goes my pecan crop money that I spend on Christmas presents for everybody. If you usually get a Christmas present from me, you may just be out of luck this year, cause Chip - N- Dale are robbing me blind. I just don't have the heart to find their stash and steal the nuts back. What would the poor little things do for food. I can see them now, rapping their little knuckles against my door, shivering in the cold, and making me feel terrible, sorry, not gonna do it, you will just have to do without a present this year. I'm letting you know in advance. It's Chip - N- Dale's fault.
