Day before Turkey Day 2011

It's close to 7PM and I am not, I repeat, I am not prepping food for Turkey Day tomorrow. That's because my family won't be down until this weekend.

Tomorrow will be spent cleaning house and just hanging around the house.

In a few minutes, after Eddie takes his shower, together we will watch a couple of our shows and just laze around. Fried bologna sandwiches are on the menu for supper.

I hope to sleep a little later in the morning before getting started cleaning.

My Thanksgiving Dinner this weekend will consist of: Turkey, Dressing, Giblet Gravy, Ham, Green Bean Casserole, Mac-N-Cheese, Deviled Eggs, Potatoes and Gravy, Sweet Potato Casserole, Stuffed Celery, Tea, Rolls, Pecan Pie, and Sugar Free Italian Cream Cake.

Hope each and everyone of you have a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Playing with my Sugar Booger (Shawn is here for the weekend)

We read; we color; we imagine; we sing; we count; we jump and run; we ride the four-wheeler; we feed the pig, the chickens, and the dogs. Much fun is had while my baby is here, then I crash. LOL

Here's a cute almost current photo of my grandson, Shawn!

Thanksgiving luncheon at work

I busted my chops last night making chicken for the Thanksgiving luncheon. To tell the truth by the time we ate it today, the breast tenderloins were a little dry, so we all had to drown them in gravy or bury them in dressing to make palatable.

I bought dressing, 4 Poppy Seed Chicken casseroles, a squash casserole, potatoes Au gratin, and a German chocolate cake from Sunday Dinner. I also bought a spiral sliced ham from Publix. We had a great time with fellowship and the feast was well eaten, but I was disappointed in my food purchases from Sunday Dinner, except for the Poppy Seed Chicken casseroles, which turned out to be very good.

I am full from all the other good eats my co-workers made. Now my hubby wants me to cook supper and I am really not interested. I would just like to go get in the bed and sleep.

I will have to break down and make some homemade dressing and macaroni-n-cheese the way my Momma taught me how to make, so I can get over this craving for Thanksgiving food. I will make some stuffed celery as well.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Where did the time go?

I didn't blog for a day, which became a week, which became a month, which became a year and then two years. I would not have believed it had been that long, except I saw the date of my last blog on here. Instead of blogging I have been living and going through the day to day of working, etc., which makes time fly, truly. I hope to get back into the routine of blogging. I like reading my older posts and remembering what went on in my life back then. Journaling is good for the soul, even if it's just fluff. Glad to be back in the swing of things.

Our handsewn quilt my friend/neighbor made me

Eddie reloads shotgun shells, so over the years he has saved many a shot bag, hence we had a lot lying about. He got the wonderful/brilliant/insane notion that we should make a quilt, but since my sewing abilities are "MONDO" inadequate, we had a neighbor lady do it for us instead. And look what a fine job she did...

Guard Snake...

My new charcoal grill requires a guard...a guard snake...that is.

What is it about my house that attracts snakes. If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that this is not the first blog I have written about snakes. At least this one is a black snake, which is supposed to be a "good" snake, if there is such a thing. Black snakes and king snakes are supposed to eat insects and other snakes. I would like to believe that. I wanted Eddie to go out and beat the snake dead, but he wouldn't and I just couldn't (shudder!).

Here is just another few pictures of my guard snake.

Ziploc Omelet

(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.

Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice omelet for a quick breakfast!!!

I was looking at my own blog,,,

to see how many comments I got about the baby chicks and almost fell off my chair from laughing.

I can't believe you guys didn't comment about this. The last blogs photos show the baby chicks and in the background is a big cup of starter grower, but look at what container Eddie used to put the feed in...A KFC CUP, Oh my goodness, that is tooooo funny. Poor little chicks I'm sure they are way afraid of us now thinking we might eat them for supper when they get big.

More baby pics

Eddie and I became parents over night...

We had 12 chicken eggs in an incubator and one hatched early this morning. Here are a couple of photos of our newly hatched baby chick. The other 11 have not pipped yet. We are expecting their arrival shortly.
